We know Doug’s Vineyard from a few successful outings from Joshua Cooper too. These gently made wines have turned my head a few times. This is a very fine-boned release here.
Light and lithe but with serious architecture, this is a very serious release and one of great understatement yet satisfaction in that. Lean, cherry scents and flavours, some sweet earthiness, mixed dried herb notes, a sooty sort of profile to the sheets of very fine tannin. Indeed, tannin is superb, long, tightly wound, keeping the wine very sleek and precise. Very satisfying. Take your time, enjoy the fine detail.
